Platform Builder is the platform development tool used by embedded developers to design, create, build, test, and debug a Windows CE operating system image. It is an integrated development environment (IDE) designed specifically for building customized embedded platforms for small-footprint devices based on Windows CE. Rapid development features include a New Platform Wizard and 12 pre-configured platforms, plus an emulator that allows you to develop and test platforms and applications on a development workstation without additional hardware investment. This comprehensive toolset includes kernel and application debuggers, a device driver test kit, and automated dependency checking to ensure that all features required to support a platform configuration are included in the operating system image. Platform Builder also provides the ability to generate custom Software Development Kits (SDK's) which install into eMbedded Visual C++ providing application developers the ability to target a custom device.
