How do I add a component to my target operating system?

You can add two types of components into your target operating system: the components that are supplied with your Windows XP Embedded product, and components that you create. To add a component that ships with Windows XP Embedded, you can simply drag and drop it into your configuration using the Target Designer tool. To add a custom component that did not ship with Windows XP Embedded, such as an application, service or custom driver, you can create your own components using the Component Designer tool. You can then import the component into the component database. Once imported into the component database, your new component is then available to you to select using the Target Designer tool. For specific instructions for adding a component, see the online product documentation on MSDN®.
