Japan Pro-Tect Introduces Medi Client Network Terminal

The Medi Client network terminal, which is installed by the side of hospital beds, allows patients to see their medical records, use the Internet, watch TV and digital versatile disc (DVD) or listen to music. The Medi Cilent has a 15 inch thin-film-transistor (TFT) 260,000 colour liquid crystal display (LCD) and a 256 MB memory. The network terminal, which works with Windows XP Embedded operation system and allows charging of TV channels with different fees, is 406 mm wide, 340 mm high, 75 mm thick and weighs six kg. The product costs 300,000 Japanese yen ($2,600/2,200 euro), taxes excluded. Pro-Tect targets sales of 5,000 Medi Client network terminals in the first year of its launch. Pro-Tect, headquartered in Tokyo, was established in May 1996. The company has 20 employees and a capital of 212 mln yen ($1.81 mln/1.53 mln euro).
